In addition to his pivotal role as a member of the Board of Directors of the Zakhem Group, Marwan is the Managing Director of Zakhem Construction Ghana Ltd (since 2004) and Zakhem Construction Senegal SA (since 2001). He is in charge of setting up Group operations and continuing business development in both Ghana and Senegal. He has been fully responsible for the execution of numerous projects in both countries.

Marwan started his career as a site Engineer with Harbert International - Egypt in 1993 and 1994. He joined the Zakhem Group in 1994 as Assistant Project Manager with Zakhem Engineers SAL in Beirut, Lebanon. In 1995, he was promoted to the position of Tendering and Contracts Manager with the Beirut office of Zakhem International Construction Ltd in Beirut, Lebanon.

Between 1998 and 2001, and prior to his current role, Marwan became Vice President of the Group's arm in the USA, Zakhem Engineering International Inc., responsible for the overall management of the company's national and international engineering projects covering all aspects of the company's operations. He is also responsible for all management and day-to-day operations of the Zakhem AJS Construction Group Inc., another company in the Zakhem Group, whose functions included management and administration, Human Resources, project management, tendering and finance.

Marwan has a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College in London (1993) and is a Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers (MICE).
